The Aircraft Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) is a specialized Unit under the Ministry of Transport responsible for conducting independent safety investigations into civil aviation accidents and incidents occurring within the United Republic of Tanzania or elsewhere to an aircraft registered in the United Republic of Tanzania, in accordance with the National Regulatory Requirements and ICAO Annex 13 to the Chicago Convention.
